An Early Spring!

Its been a great first 6 week start to the semester both personally and in ministry.  I (Devon) have been reading Zechariah and Haggai and its been a good reminder of God's faithfulness to us even as we are undeserving!

Good weather (high 60s at times) has afforded us the chance to get out and have some adventures - see below!

But first: Some photos from campus....

Faculty Appreciation Dinner - Students and professors from the University of Utah filling their plates at the buffet line.

Students from the bioengineering department at the U and their respective professors.
(see the February newsletter for info on this great evening!)

The Traveling Team addressing some of our students. They are literally a team (4 people) who travel around America talking with students about needs on the mission field and how they can help (Pray, Give, Go). Its always motivating to hear from them!

Since the Traveling Team came, our students have stopped going out to the Village Inn after our Thursday night meeting and instead meet in a dorm to hang out. The money they save they are donating to world missions. How cool is that!?

Friday nigh family time at CityCreek mall - we got dinner there and then let Charis run around in a giant dinosaur play land full of kids.

Morning in the Reoch house: I get up at 7:30 - if I'm lucky the kids are still asleep  and I can have some time in the Word in peace. If not, I still attempt a quiet time in the Word, but it also includes wrangling kids. Coffee. Then breakfast. At this point Selah is eating more than I am for breakfast - not sure how that works.

With the beautiful spring weather, we've recently begun doing short hikes in the hills around SLC on the weekend. Selah rides in the backpack, and Charis slowly makes her way up the hill. Though fairly slow, she loves it and asks about hiking throughout the week.

First ever Charis-Dad date. Ice Cream and a balloon at Chick-fil-a. We were a bit of a scene for people to stare at. Really glad the ice cream didn't tip over on the ground or the balloon pop, as we would have had an audience while daddy-daughter date night went south fast.

The End - More to come next month!

The Holidays and CruConference

The Annual Cru Conference (Winter Conference) in Portland over New Years. We were blessed with cold, clear skies in usually rainy Portland this year.

Emily (front), Sean (back left) and Stephanie (back right) on the 2nd annual Rockwood Knocks outreach. Every year during Cru Conference students and staff go out to bless the host city by talking with people about Jesus. The last 2 years have been far and away the best, however.

We've had the chance to partner with a Christian businessman who has taken it upon himself to bring leaders together to help bless the people of Rockwood in Portland, the poorest neighborhood in Oregon.

Students are able to:

*Share the Gospel Christ with residents

*Survey residents about their biggest needs in order to target aid well

*Offer residents a information on community services available to them

Stephanie (back right) was able to lead a young  man to Christ right in the entryway of his apartment!

A screen shot from my new favorite app: "Fighter Verse." Check it out! Its made by the ministry of John Piper and simply gives you a new verse each week and tools to memorize it.
